Resin Bound Car Park Surfacing at Motorpoint, Peterborough

The Problem

The manager of Motorpoint’s Valeting Centre in Peterborough contacted us for a site survey.

The area where cars are cleaned and prepared for their showroom in Fengate consisted of gravel and plastic segments. A lot of the segments on the ‘runways’ had broken down, causing loose gravel to spread. This made a mess on the newly valeted vehicles when they were parked in the parking area.

Our solution

We proposed replacing the gravel with a smooth resin bound car park surface.

We removed the gravel and plastic segments from the runways, excavating to form a good level surface and make up with type one aggregate. 60-70mm of 14mm binder course was then used, which created a good clean surface. Hot bitumen was then applied over the joints between the asphalt and the plastic segments to bond the surfaces together.

The Result

Motorpoint Resin Bound

The site manager, Mr Chris Northern, was delighted with the finished product and said “I can’t believe the difference it has made when parking the cars”.
