School Playground Surface Materials

School playgrounds require hard-wearing surfaces, often with multi-purpose functions. We offer a wide range of playground floor materials to suit your specific requirements and playground safety surfaces such as soft fall rubber:

Anti slip surface
To ensure school playground safety, anti-slip surfaces are ideal for wheelchair and pushchair access ramps, and placing in hazardous, slippery areas.

School playground tarmac
A popular choice for school playgrounds is tarmac. It’s a practical surface that’s ideal for larger areas and is installed in schools up and down the country.

Rubber playground surface
Wet pour rubber playground surfaces are impact-absorbing and make perfect safety zones, particularly for younger children. Rubber playground surfaces are also available in bright colours to help you create a vibrant space for children to enjoy playing.

Pervious surfaces help improve areas that suffer from flooding and where drainage options are unavailable or lacking.

Fine asphalt
Fine asphalt is typically used on playgrounds and helps minimise grazes and minor injuries.

Resin is a hard-wearing, versatile and anti-slip material that is a popular choice for schools. Its hardiness is ideally suited for areas that suffer from considerable stress, such as from tree roots. We can offer as many as 40 different colour variations and create bespoke designs to build unique playing environments and define different areas.

Acrylic coloured surfaces
We can apply most colours on the market to existing play areas, which not only improves the lifespan of the surface, but can also help define different areas on playgrounds.

Slurry Sealant
Used to improve the lifespan of older playground surfaces, slurry sealant also fills small damaged areas of asphalt to re-vitalise the surface.

Child Safe Playground Surfaces

Playgrounds first and foremost need to be safe areas where children can interact and play without issue. Also known as ‘wet pour’, safety surfacing is softer than other materials and helps to absorb impacts. So, if a child trips or falls over, they’re less likely to encounter injury. Due to its softer properties, the impact will also be less painful than with other playground materials, such as tarmac. A rubber crumb material, with safe playground surfaces, you can easily add splashes of colour to create a brighter, cheerful play area. As for maintenance, they are easy to clean and built to withstand a range of weather conditions, so won’t take up much of your time or resources.

Yes! We are available 24/7 – including bank holidays. You can depend on us to complete work at a time to suit you.

Are staff DBS checked?

Yes, any and all staff working within the school property is fully DBS checked.

What is the best surface for a children’s play area?

Wet pour is often considered the best choice for a children’s play area. This is because it’s soft, minimising the risk of injury if a child falls over. It’s also super resilient and requires little maintenance, making it a hard-wearing choice of material that won’t cost the earth. However, all the playground surfaces we offer have their own pros and cons, and the perfect option will depend on your environment and requirements. Speak to a knowledgeable member of our team today to get an idea of which type of surfacing material is best for your playground.

What are the playground surfaces prices?

Playground surfaces prices depend on a range of factors, including the surface area, the type of surfacing material you want, and if you require any finishing touches such as drainage and borders.
