What is Asphalt
Asphalt is the most popular construction and surfacing material for roads, footpaths, playgrounds, cycle ways, car parks and driveways in the UK. In fact, it’s the preferred material for the Highways Agency because of the reduced noise levels produced by traffic.
A similar mixture to tarmac, it consists of less external materials, making it slightly harder wearing.
Formerly known as Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) or Hot Rolled Asphalt (HRA), today asphalt surfacing is more commonly known as: Asphalt Concrete.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you provide asphalt surfaces for private driveways?
We’re more than happy to complete a high-quality driveway for commercial properties. We can send a member of our team to assess your requirements and advise on the specifications to ensure your new drive is fit for purpose.
What is the difference between asphalt and tarmac?
They are both very similar materials. However, asphalt features less external materials, making it a slightly more hard-wearing choice.
Is asphalt a suitable surface for heavier vehicle traffic?
Asphalt is suitable for heavy lorry parks and motorways. The thickness of the surface can be adapted to suit the purpose, so if you require a road surface for either heavier vehicles or where traffic is busy and consistent, as professional asphalt contractors we can make sure your surface is fit for purpose.
