Yard Surfacing at Keyline Builders Merchants

Project Details

  • Repaired yard
  • Cressing, Essex
  • Completed in two days

Project Description

Due to the heavy footfall experienced by this business, we had to begin this job on a Friday afternoon and complete it by the end of that Saturday.

Various sections of the yard were in a poor state; many areas had totally disintegrated, which prevented forklifts from being able to access pallets like they normally would. Keen to return its business to normal, Keyline enlisted us to resurface the yard promptly and to a high standard.

We used a planer to reduce levels by up to 50mm, swept up with a mechanical sweeper and then applied a tack coat to the vertical joints. This adhesive bitumen compound allowed our newly laid material to bond effectively to the existing surface.

Next, we laid the new asphalt with two machines, a mini and midi paver, over banding the joints once complete. This step involves applying a hot bitumen joint compound, and prevents water ingress for a long-lasting, weather-resistant surface.
